Episode: Reclaim Your Voice, Confidence, and Financial Future
Empowering Women, Transforming Lives
Season 11 | Episode 68 | May 14, 2026
What if the challenges that shake your confidence are not here to stop you, but to help you see what is ready to rise within you?
In this episode of Empowering Women, Transforming Lives, we continued our May theme of finding the silver lining by leaning into a powerful conversation about voice, confidence, self-trust, and financial freedom.
So often, we wait for the right moment, the right permission, or the right circumstances before we fully step forward. We may know there is more for us, but still feel held back by fear, old beliefs, self-doubt, or uncertainty about what comes next.
This conversation is a reminder that you do not have to wait for someone else to give you permission to trust your voice, claim your next step, or begin building a future that supports you.
You Do Not Need Permission to Trust Your Voice
Our guest, Dr. Cindy McGovern, shared such a powerful perspective on confidence, leadership, and the invisible ways women can hold themselves back.
As a leadership expert, keynote speaker, Wall Street Journal bestselling author, and author of The Permission Mission, Dr. Cindy helps women recognize where they may be waiting for permission to speak up, move forward, or trust what they already know.
She shared that after years of working with women in leadership, she noticed something important: many women were not lacking confidence or skill. They were waiting for permission.
That truth can land deeply.
Sometimes the thing standing in front of us is not a real wall. It is an old rule. An old voice. A familiar pattern. A belief we never stopped to question.
Dr. Cindy described this as cleaning out the “emotional closet” and deciding which voices from the past still fit the future we are becoming.
What a powerful invitation.
Because not every old belief deserves to keep leading your life.
Not every rule you inherited is aligned with who you are now.
And not every familiar place is truly comfortable.
Sometimes what we call a comfort zone is really just a familiar zone.

Imposter Syndrome May Mean You Are Growing
One of the most freeing parts of this conversation was Dr. Cindy’s perspective on imposter syndrome.
Instead of seeing imposter syndrome as proof that we do not belong, she invited us to look at it as a sign that we may be growing.
Imposter syndrome often appears when we are stepping into something new. It shows up at the edge of the familiar. It whispers that we are not ready, not qualified, or somehow lucky to be in the room.
But as Dr. Cindy reminded us, we are not there by accident.
You belong in the room.
Your seat has your name on it.
And the voice inside of you that has been waiting to be heard is worthy of being trusted.
Financial Confidence Begins with Looking
Our second guest, LaKiesha Tomlin, brought a beautiful and practical perspective on financial confidence, investing, and creating more options for your future.
LaKiesha is an investing and trading mentor who helps busy professionals build financial confidence and flexibility. With a Yale MBA and a background as an aerospace and defense engineer, her journey into trading became especially meaningful after a layoff became a turning point in her life.
Instead of allowing that season to define or defeat her, LaKiesha used it as an opportunity to grow, learn, and strengthen her financial future.
Her story reminds us that financial confidence is not built by avoiding the numbers or waiting until life feels urgent.
It begins by being willing to look.
To learn.
To ask questions.
To become curious instead of fearful.
So many people avoid conversations about money because they feel overwhelming, intimidating, or uncomfortable. But when we are willing to look at where we are, we become empowered to make new choices.
And with each choice, we can begin creating more freedom, flexibility, and possibility.

Start with Curiosity, Not Fear
LaKiesha shared an important reminder for anyone who is interested in investing, trading, or building a more secure financial future: begin with curiosity.
Instead of asking, “How fast can I make money?” or “How quickly will this work?” she encouraged listeners to approach the process with a long-term mindset.
Financial growth is not about rushing.
It is about learning.
It is about understanding.
It is about building skills before the urgent moment comes.
That is such a powerful reminder for every area of life.
The time to strengthen your confidence is not only when fear is loud.
The time to build your financial understanding is not only when life shakes.
The time to trust your voice is not only after someone else validates it.
The time to begin is today.
A Moment for You
Before you rush into the next part of your day, take a moment to pause.
Take a breath.
Put your hand on your heart and ask yourself:
- Where am I waiting for permission?
- What voice within me is ready to be heard?
- What old belief no longer fits the future I am building?
- Where am I being invited to grow my confidence?
- What is one small step I can take today toward greater financial clarity?
You do not need to have the whole path figured out.
You do not need to wait until you feel fearless.
You do not need to become someone else to move forward.
You simply need to take the next aligned step.
And even the smallest step counts.
