The Ones Who Find Us
Sometimes, we think we are the ones who find our animals.
We choose them. We bring them home. We make space for them in our lives.
But every now and then, an animal appears with such quiet timing that we begin to wonder if maybe they found us first.
They show up at the window.
They linger nearby.
They make themselves known in a way that feels gentle, intentional, and meaningful.
Meet Watcher
This month, I want to introduce you to Watcher, one of the outside kitties who became part of our animal family.
Watcher is a beautiful black and white tuxedo cat. He was the very first cat my husband and I met when we moved into our new home.
We were sitting in the living room when we felt a presence near the screen door.
We looked over, and there he was.
Not asking to come in.
Not making a fuss.
Just watching.
Over time, we realized that this was his way. He would visit different windows, quietly observe us, and keep an eye on the home and land.
He never really wanted to be an inside kitty, but he still became part of the family in his own way.
Watcher reminds me that animals do not always have to enter our lives loudly to leave a lasting imprint.
Sometimes, they simply arrive, and something in our hearts recognizes them.
A Question to Sit With
Maybe someone introduced you.
Maybe you saw their picture and felt something move in your heart.
Ask yourself:
What did this animal awaken in me?
What changed after they arrived?
Did they come into my life for comfort, healing, protection, companionship, or something I only understood later?
You may not have all the answers right away.
That is okay.
Sometimes, the meaning of an animal’s arrival unfolds slowly.
Try This Gentle Practice
This month, take a few minutes to remember your first meeting with an animal you love.
Close your eyes if you would like.
Bring that moment back gently.
Then place your hand over your heart and simply say:
Thank you for finding me.
You do not have to make it complicated.
Just let the memory become a moment of gratitude.
Because sometimes, the first hello was more meaningful than we realized at the time.
If this resonates with you, you are warmly invited to begin your Animal Connection journey.
Warmly,
